Verification Policy
A Verified mark tells people that MtaaniWeb has reviewed a profile and found it to be genuine. This policy explains what that means, how to ask for it and how it can be lost.
1. Three kinds of profile
Verification applies to a Business (a company, shop, restaurant or service), a Place (a venue, park, attraction or public space) and a Creator (a person or group who makes things people discover, such as a musician, artist, photographer or host).
2. Claimed is not verified
Claiming a profile means someone says they represent it. Verification means we have checked. A claimed profile is not automatically verified.
3. Payment never grants verification
Verification cannot be bought, and paying for promotion, a package or any other service has no effect on it. Every decision is made by a person at MtaaniWeb.
4. What we look at
We look for evidence that the profile is real and that the person asking is connected to it. Links to public pages are normally enough: a website, a social media account, a business listing, an event page or a registration page. We may ask for more information. We do not ask for national ID documents, and we ask you not to send them.
5. How evidence is handled
Evidence you send is seen only by the MtaaniWeb team. It is not shown on your profile and is not shared. We keep it for as long as the review and re-review need it, then delete or anonymise it.
6. Statuses
- Not requested: no request has been made.
- Pending: we have your request and have not started.
- Under review: we are checking it.
- Needs information: we have asked you for something.
- Verified: the profile passed review and shows the Verified mark.
- Rejected: we could not verify the profile. We tell you why.
- Suspended: the mark is hidden while we look into a concern.
- Revoked: the mark was removed because the profile no longer meets the standard.
7. Re-review
Verification is not forever. We may check a profile again from time to time, and we may suspend or revoke the mark if information is false, out of date, misleading or if the profile breaks our Content Guidelines.
8. What Verified does not mean
Verified is not government certification, a licence, a safety guarantee or a recommendation. It does not make a profile a Mtaani Pick.
9. How to ask
