What is MtaaniWeb?

MtaaniWeb is a Kenyan local discovery platform. It helps you find places, events, experiences and things happening around you, by time of day, neighbourhood and mood. Read more about us.

Is MtaaniWeb free to use?

Yes. Discovery is free for everyone. You do not need an account to browse, search or save places to My Saves.

Which neighbourhoods do you cover?

We started with Nairobi and are adding neighbourhoods as coverage grows. See the full list on the Neighbourhoods page. If we are missing your neighbourhood, tell us.

What does Kuna vibe gani mtaani? mean?

It is Sheng for "what's the vibe in the neighbourhood?", and it is the question MtaaniWeb is built to answer.

Businesses

How do I get my business listed?

Use the List Your Business form. A basic listing is free. The team reviews each submission before it is published.

How long does a listing take to appear?

Once your submission is reviewed and approved it is published. We may contact you to confirm details or ask for photos.

How do I correct or update my listing?

Use Report an issue on your business page for quick corrections, or contact us for bigger changes.

Can I claim a listing that already exists?

Yes. Contact us with your business name and a way to confirm you represent it. Claiming is separate from verification.

How do I get verified?

Use the verification request form and share links that show the Business, Place or Creator is real. A person reviews every request. Read the Verification Policy.

Does paying make me verified?

No. Verification cannot be bought, and paying for promotion has no effect on it.

How long does verification take?

We review requests in the order they arrive and cannot promise a date. We will contact you if we need more information.

Do you need my ID to verify me?

No. Please do not send national ID documents. Links to public pages are normally enough.

Can the Verified mark be removed?

Yes. It can be suspended or revoked if the profile no longer meets the standard, and you will be told the reason. See the Verification Policy.

What does the Verified badge mean?

A Mtaani Verified badge means MtaaniWeb has completed its verification process for that business. It can never be bought.

Campaigns and advertising

How much does promotion cost?

Packages start from KES 5,000 for sponsored placement, and managed campaigns are quoted individually. See Promote Your Business.

Will sponsored content be labelled?

Always. Paid placements are clearly marked as sponsored. Read our Advertising Policy.

Do I keep control of my ad accounts?

Where possible, yes. MtaaniWeb's service fee and any advertising budget are separate line items, and we encourage businesses to own their ad accounts.

Can I get a birthday wish, shout-out or creator feature?

Yes. See Work with MtaaniWeb. You send a request, we review it and confirm the price, and you pay before it is scheduled. No account is needed.

My Saves and privacy

What is My Saves?

It is your personal bookmarks list. Save any place, event or guide and find it again on the My Saves page.

Do I need an account to save things?

No. Saves are kept privately on your device and browser. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, your list starts fresh.

What data do you collect?

We keep this minimal: anonymous counts of how the site is used, search terms and the messages you send us. See the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

How do I ask for my data to be deleted?

Use the Data Requests page.

Events

How do I get my event listed?

Send us the details: name, date, time, venue, entry price and any link or contact for tickets.

Why does an event show Today or Happening now?

Event cards update with the time in Nairobi, so you can see at a glance what is on right now, today, tomorrow or this weekend.
